Loving One Another

Joyful Comments

When you take the time to comment
On a post a friend has shared,
You leave behind a footprint
On the heart;  your soul is bared.

When you leave an affirmation
And you take the time to care,
You tiptoe on the heartstrings,
Leaving love behind you there.

It creates a warm assurance
When a reader clicks the “Like,”
But nothing leaves an imprint
As deep as what you type.

So, when you “like” the posting
And you leave your picture there,
Please go just one step farther.
Write the “why” in comments fair.

Your thoughts, your honest feelings
Leave an indelible footprint on
The soil of shared ideas.
They’re the seeds that grow the lawn!

  1. So true! It is nice to get the likes but we all look forward to comments!

  2. Not such radical idea, is it? Thanks for following suit!! You are loved, indeed! ❤

  3. Wow! Jan, you are amazing! I love this poem, and how perfectly it shares the truth that a Like is very nice, but as that lovely wee little art we both like says so well, your Comments make me happy! Every visit I get from you with your kind support cheering me on, warms my heart deeply and encourages me so much! Bless your dear and loving heart Jan 🙂
You make a wonderful difference in my world! With love, your friend, Gina

    • How kind of you, Gina! I would like to recommend you as the “Most Inspirational Blogger of 2012 on WordPress.” Is there such an award? You and ThoughtsFromanAmericanWoman both deserve it!

  4. What a lovely poem, mom! I, too, appreciate comments SO much more than the likes and often comment on others’ posts even though many of them are people who I’ve never met or haven’t seen in a bajillion years. I know that they appreciate a few words and it only takes a couple of seconds! Love you, mom!

  5. […] JanBeek – Jan shines with the love of God and she expresses it in her writing.  She enjoys to “tell the old, old story of Jesus and His Love”! […]

    • Thank you for the compliment. I am home now – back from 6 weeks vacation in southern CA. Time to get back to regular blogging. Thanks for your encouragement!

  6. I love this one, Jan. A wonderfully poetic reminder!
