Today’s Good Friday
A day to remember Christ
Gave more than His best

He gave us His all
That we’d have Eternity

Beautiful People

Beautiful people
From a Grateful Heart

Today I am reflecting on the beautiful people in my life. I am thanking God for those loving, sincere, caring, sharing people He has put into my path. I could fill this page with their names and pictures! But, I won’t.

I will put their faces up to God and ask Him to BEE with each one of them. Give them health and strength and guard their paths. He knows each of their needs better than I do!

Your Beautiful Friends

Who are those beautiful people God has put into your life? Take a minute to bring each of their faces up to the Lord, and thank Him. What a gift they are!

Your Presence in my On-line Life

I do not take for granted YOU… You beautiful people who take the time to read and to respond to my daily on-line life. I’m on the 182nd consecutive day of making this place a part of my daily routine. I like starting my morning with an inspirational thought that I can share with you.

Although I am not “all about numbers” – and the stats are not what guide me, I am grateful for each of the 450+ people who pressed “Follow” on JanBeek – and especially for those of you who take time to leave a comment. It helps me know I am not just blowin’ in the wind!

Visiting and Being Inspired by Others

I enjoy seeing what you have created, too. Some of us do not have the kind of blog that will attract thousands (what would we do to monitor that anyway?), but we know the folks who do visit us regularly are people who care. You are like-minded people who also have “Inspire Others to Live a Better, more Loving Life” as one of your goals.

You do inspire me to keep sharing sincere love, to keep on caring, and to keep on encouraging. You are a blessing!

Thank you!

Crack the Door Open

CRACK THE DOOR OPEN

See yourself opening doors to joy, peace, healing, prosperity, and love.
Doors to understanding, compassion, and forgiveness.
Doors to freedom…
Doors to self-worth and self-esteem…
Doors to self-love…
It is all here before you…
Which door will you open first? ~ Louise L. Hay

I have a lot of crackpot friends
Who make me laugh and sing
They say good friends always are
Half-cracked (if there is such a thing)

It’s through the cracks that light
Can sneak in and add levity
To the darkened places in
The hearts of you and me

We need those crackpot friends
Like we need doors that open wide
To let the light shine in our lives
And erase the shadows we try to hide

So, crack the door open, friends
And invite your light to shine bright
I need it in my life each day
I need it today; I’ll need it tonight

For life can be filled with darkness
If you close yourself into a knot and stay curled
Open your heart to the blessings out there
Crack the door open and welcome the world!

Living With Purpose

Saints walk among us

Thank You, God, for Your Angels

Who live with purpose

“Each person on this planet is here for a purpose… That purpose is to care for other people and to help this world become a better place through service to others.” Gary Sinise quote in The Upside in theApril 2019 Guideposts Magazine.

With yesterday’s flooded basement, we had God’s angels working overtime. I told you about Steve, Joe, Joel, and Randall. They worked like troopers.

I didn’t tell you about True Value having sandbags – and the Good Samaritan who loaded them into my car for me. I didn’t get his name. God bless him!

I didn’t tell you about Joe Smithson, the carpet cleaner, unloading those sandbags and placing them out against the rushing river of melting snow that was pouring in. God bless Joe!

I didn’t tell you about my buddy, Lexi Sundell, who rented a sump pump and came to set it up with a 100 feet of hose to suck that lake out into the field.

It worked! Thank you so much, Lexi!

It doesn’t do any good to wring your hands and repeat, “Poor Me!”

Reach out to your friends! Let them know your needs.
Watch God’s Angels come to the fore!

I can’t be more grateful!

I am living with purpose. As Gary Sinise suggested, my purpose is to care for other people and to help this world become a better place through service to others. I am so grateful to those Saints of God who reached out to help me. Who can I help today?

Who can you reach out to help today?

Look for the Good Samaritans out there, and see what you can do to give them a little recognition. In so doing, you may be inspired to do likewise… and you may encourage others to step out as Saints of God, too.

No Joke!

It’s not a Happy April Fool’s Day!
No joke … the joke’s on me!

drape stains

Look carefully and you will see the water stain
on the bottom of the drapes
and the water mark on the carpet.
Look and see the snow drift outside the door.
There is no drain out there,
so where does the water go when it melts?
You guessed it!

We have lived in this Madison Valley, Montana home for 13 years – and this has never happened before! The owners before us lived here for 5 years and they said it never happened to them, either. This has been quite a winter! You’ve heard me complaining, haven’t you? More snow than a friend who’s been here since 1972 has ever seen!!

What does this have to do with a blog whose sub-title is “Love One Another?”

I’ll tell you… it has everything to do with people like Joe Smithson!

Joe Smithson
This delightful man is a God-send!

He came and helped me determine the extent of the damage.
He helped me understand ALL the furniture
in that downstairs bedroom has to come out
so he can come back with his rug cleaning equipment
and suck the water out and dry the carpet
and try to dry the walls where it has seeped up!

So, with my dear hubby off skiing today,
I found two other saints who came to help
move the bed, the dresser, the nightstands,
the desk, the chairs, the whole “kittenkaboodle”
out of there and into the game room
and other downstairs bedroom.
What a job!

guestroom empty

It’s a California King – with two top mattresses, two box springs,
a lower frame, and a headboard! Heavy stuff!
No way I coulda done it alone.

And the triple dresser is solid wood – a heavy sucker!
God bless those two friends who came to do the moving!

triple dresser empty

And before those could be moved, another friend came
and helped me move all the “stuff”
that was on top of all that furniture.
You know, nothing is “clear” like this
under ordinary circumstances, right?

Then, to avoid the continued drain
of the melting snow into the bedroom,
another saint of a friend came
with his shovel first –
and then his snowplow.

Steve's snowblower

The snowplow did
what would have taken all day with a shovel…
and did it so much more thoroughly.

Ah, the blog subject
is “Love One Another”

– right?

There is no greater love than to
lay down your life,
pick up your shovel,
load up your snowplow,
and come to help a friend in need.
That is a friend, indeed!!

God bless you, Steve!!

Imagine how surprised Bob
is going to be
when he gets home
from a day at Big Sky
enjoying the slopes –
a last day (or so)
with spring skiing –
and sees how much more
is cleaned up
than the beach towel
he set out there
this morning
could have done
to fix the problem!!

Go back up to that first picture. If you look carefully, you will see the green and white polka-dot towel on the other side of the glass door. (Like putting a finger in the dyke to stop it, right?) Kind of gives you a new definition of April Fool!

Ah, God love ’em… we gotta put our priorities in order, don’t we?

Who can pass up a day on the slopes?

Unless it’s a day on the river!

Spring IS coming, you know!!
(Not soon enough here)

How has your April Fool’s Day been?

31 Daily Take-Aways

Happy 31st of March to you!

How do you start your day?
I read “A Spirit-lifting Devotional” each morning called “Daily Guideposts.”

Each morning as I meditate on the day’s message, I summarize the “Take-Away” for that day in one to seven words- and write it on the blanks provided on two pages at the end of each month.

I also use that page to pray about what God wants me to do that day. I plan the day out at the top of the page. Sometimes it happens just like that. Other days, God intervenes and unexpected things happen. Here is today’s plan:

I write the chosen words on the page provided and review the messages for the month. These are the 31 “Take-Aways” for this month of March:

Prayer for Today:

Today I am praying to keep a humble spirit.
I ask God to help me see the Extraordinary in the Ordinary.

I remember that Jesus hears and answers us every time we pray.
He may not always say YES, but if we pray with a humble heart,
and ask Him to put a right spirit in us, and we pray in His Will,
we are more likely to get a positive response.

What is your prayer for today?

True Friends

On a site whose by-line is “Love One Another,”
I can’t forget to remind you to be sure to
return the unconditional love
given to us by our “True Friends,” our pets!

BostonTerrier-friend

Our Boston terrier is a real love
At eight and a half she thinks
She still is two.

We have had about eight Bostons
During our 57 years together.
They provide relief!

Relief from the seriousness
Of life on this planet –
They make you laugh.

If you’re a pet lover,
I don’t have to tell you –
They are True Friends!

Here is our TazE. What a blessing she is!

IMG_7627

Let’s get acquainted!

“Play” is TazE’s middle name!
She loves to romp on the grass
and chase her favorite toy, the ball.

But any stick will do!

TazE is a bringle and white Boston.
See the touches of brown in her black body?
She started showing a little gray
around her eyes at about 6 years old.

By eight and a half, she has quite a bit of gray.
She loves to go for rides in the car or ATV with us.
Her bed and blankey MUST go along with her!

Boston Terrier Origins

Bostons are a USA registered breed:  “The American Gentleman” (or Lady)
bred by combining an English Bulldog and a white English Terrier.

In the 1800s, a breeder in Boston, Massachusetts named Robert Hooper
acquired a dog of this mix named Judge.

Judge is the founding dog of the Boston Terrier breed.

Bostons have a similar body and pushed in nose as this darling pug.

What to Look For:

Like this cute little Boston puppy, it’s wise to choose one who has black hair around both its eyes. We had a Boston once with white hair around one of his eyes;
that eye was much more susceptible to infections,
very sensitive to light, and eventually after a
battle with a cat’s claws, the eye had to be removed.
That was Buster, our first Boston.
He was a love…. but
we learned to look for the black markings around both eyes
like this little puppy.

When tey are young, their ears flop like this.
Usually it takes about 6 weeks for the ears to stand up straight.
