Now you have it!
Go get it!

Trapped?

Are you feeling trapped?

Know someone else who is?

Rescuing people isn’t like

The funny saying on my apron.

.

I can’t pick you up,

Tip you sideways,

And pour you out

Of your trap.

.

But in all seriousness,

We help rescue one another.

We can help others

Escape their traps.

.

Now don’t look at me

And call me Pollyanna.

I’m not a do-gooder,

But I have a secret.

.

It’s the path to love.

It’s the joy and peace

That are absolutely mine.

The path is Jesus!

.

Yes, the right answer

Was learned on Sunday

Way back when you

Were just a little kid.

.

Your Sunday School teacher

Asked you a question,

And you had the key to answer:

“Jesus!” He is the Way!

.

Don’t believe me?

Give Him a try.

If you’re feeling trapped,

Give your struggles to Jesus.

.

My Lord saved the groom

At the wedding feast.

He turned water into wine

And the guests celebrated.

.

If He can do that,

He can turn your challenges

Into learning opportunities.

He can unlock your traps!

.

I hope you really know

That guy named Jesus

Who came to unlock

The traps that bind us.

.

If He isn’t your friend,

I invite you to get acquainted.

Let Him rescue you.

He stands at your heart door.

.

Open it! Don’t remain

Trapped in a bottle, or

In sorrow, or in pain.

Whatever your question…

.

The answer is simply, “Jesus!”

He came to save us

From our entrapments.

Learn from Him – and be free!

The Pleasure of Not Writing

Yes, take time to think

Think many positive thoughts

Then make time to write

But, write everyday?

Is that really positive?

How about a break?

Every other week I meet with a Writers’ Group. Our attendance varies between two and eight. We never know who’ll show up, but even if I am there alone, I enjoy going to that writers’ spot and sharing ideas with fellow writers via my blog.

When others attend (usually two or more join me), we begin with a prompt that we pull out of a hat (actually a little bag), and then we free write for 15 minutes or so. Each of us shares orally with one another what we’ve written during free write – and then we share something we’ve been working on at home, making copies for each other to look on and offer positive criticism.

During the free write, I get a kick out of how many different approaches we take to the same prompt. A few weeks ago the prompt was, “The Pleasure of Not Writing.”

Here is what my fifteen minute rambling produced:

Writing is an itch

That needs to be scratched,

But I can turn around

And grieve the time that’s snatched!

I can get so wrapped up

In getting words out of my brain

That it can be exhausting

And on life – take quite a drain!

I need to take a break

And not write for a day or two;

Do something else creative –

What would that be for you?

Would you watch TV and vegetate?

Would you fish or visit friends?

Would you clean, or sort, or gravitate

To some project without ends?

I take pleasure in my writing.

I love hearing from bloggers out there,

But I think there’s pleasure in not writing –

I’m just not sure I know where!

Oh wait – I know a place I’ll go –

To the kitchen where I’ll cook –

To the Food Bank where I’ll serve –

To Plain Jane’s to have a look.

I’ll bide my time at the mall

Or take in a concert or two.

What pleasure will you find NOT writing?

What other activities are happy for you?

A pedicure? Ah, it feels so good!

Time at the beach? Ah, so refreshing!

Quiet time with Jesus?

Ah yes, I’m headed to my lovely sanctuary now.

Join me!

I’ve Been Thinking

Life is fragile!

On this day when another mass shooting occurred,
and 12 people were innocently shot down
in Thousand Oaks, CA,
we need this book,
“I’ve Been Thinking” by Maria Shriver.

A friend of mine, Gloria Wilson, shared a few pages from it on FaceBook.

The prayer below is one that resonated with me.
I hope it speaks to you,, too.

I am grateful for my faith
which helps me know for sure,
my future is in God’s hands.

God help us as a nation… as a world.

Help us to JUST LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Y = Youthfulness

Day #25 in the A-Z series of “What Makes Me Happy?”

YOUTHFULNESS

My time on earth is

Measured by experience

And development

I maintain an attitude of positivity and youthfulness.

The zeal of youth makes me happy.

My spirit is ageless.

How about you?

My husband said, “Indecision.”

I said, “That’s not a Y, that’s an I.”

He said, “But it’s a Y in the road.  You have indecision.

You don’t know which way to go.

It doesn’t make me happy, but it makes me think.

Thinking/ pondering/weighing odds – those make me happy…

Because it’s nice to have choices.”

Hmmm, creative thinking, don’t you think?

What “Y” word makes you happy?

P = Positivity

Day #16 of my A-Z series on “What Makes Me Happy?”

POSITIVITY

I played with words that start with “P”
– like PUPPIES and PALM Springs.

I contemplated P words
and all the joy PEACE brings.

I thought about the POWER of PRAYER,

But then I gave more thought to
What makes me happy through and through,
And decided on POSITIVITY.

Think Positive Thoughts

The following quote
– a Chinese proverb –
INSPIRES me to remember
the IMPORTANCE
of shared happiness:

“If you want happiness for an hour –
take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day,
go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year,
inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime,
help someone else.”

We all are INTERCONNECTED, you know.

Here is an Invitation to Inspire someone else.
